Wow, the West Virginia hills.  Or more like wow, West Virginia, it's all hills!  Rode from D.C. to Harrisonburg, VA, where I made a 90 deg. turn west into WV, prime riding territory.  Once again, hills, turns, no traffic, no cops.  Georgia Hills all over again, but squared.

Sorry, but I never get tired of these empty forest roads!

Managed to get a few miles of gravel roads in before leaving VA.

Note to self:  Self, you're a dumbass!!  When parking the bike downhill to take a cheesy picture of a "Welcome to X" sign, be sure to leave bike in gear, or it might (will) fall over!

All's well that ends well.  A nice guy pulled over to help me right the bike, and even took a pic.

Germany Valley, WV.

As always, I decided to take the scenic backroads.  Note:  When doing this in WV, note that it might take you 2 hrs. to run 20 miles of forest roads.  Compensate accordingly for time, weather, and gas!

Friday night and the nice people of the world are home watching a DVD, maybe out to a nice dinner, maybe having a few drinks.  I'm in the middle of the pouring rain, on a dirt road, in woods so thick the GPS wont get a signal, I dont know where the hell I am, and I think "Man, this sucks", but then I come to my senses, and I think "Man this rocks!!".  So, the short version is after riding in the gravel and rain for 4 hrs., I finally found a town with a motel at 12:30 am.  Not before having run into a lively bunch of West Virginians, celebrating TGIF at a cliffside trailer/bar.  Nice people as most people in the middle of nowhere turn out to be.  Had to turn down many free shots of Jim Bean.  Would not charge me for the coffee.  Did I mention they were a "lively" bunch?

Next day, after being welcomed to Ohio...

... it was say goodbye to the turns, and soon after, goodbye to the hills.

Rode on through Ohio to Indianapolis, IN.  next morning, thought I'd go take a look at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, just to say I'd been there at least.

Well when I got there there was a small gathering of a few bikes...

A charity ride for a local hospital.  Rode around town with the hogs for a while.

Downtown Indianapolis is pretty nice.

And on to Chicago, IL.  That is all for now.  Over/out.
